# Database synchronization

I have developed a solution with Servoy/SQL Anywhere.
What I want to do next is to be able to run this solution locally and when the user is at the office synchronize it with the “main” database on the server.
The server is a Mac G5 and runs iAnywhere9 and the clients are Mac Intel computer and they run iAnywhere10.
I searched the internet for information on this matter but it is a jungle! So I have two questions:
1. Does anybody know if it is possible to synchronize databases between the two versions?
2. Is there a manual for “dummies” how to realize this on a Mac OSX platform.

Hello,
The MobiLink server from SQL Anywhere 9 can synchronize to MobiLink clients from version 9 and below, so unfortunately this will not work in your configuration.
The MobiLink server from SQL Anywhere 10 can synchronize with clients from versions 9 and 10, so in your case, you would need to upgrade your server.

My server is a Mac G5, is it possible to run iAnywhere 10, or do I need an intelMac?

Unfortunately no. Version 10 only supports Intel-based Macs.

I’m working on a plugin in Servoy to accomplish this. Will allow a runtime to sync to a Servoy server and will be cross-database / cross-platform. I’ll let you know when I have more details.

The plugin is available now on a case by case basis. As it requires some work to get you started with it and it is not a standard product yet (read: it doesn’t ship with a 100 page manual) we will not make it generally available right now. For those interested please contact me by email to co-ordinate implementation with you.
