i18n dialog incredibly slow

Hello,

for quite a while now I am pretty annoyed by i18n editing in Developer 3.5. We have around 35.000 message entries and

  • opening anything i18n related takes a long time
  • changing the language can take up to 2 minutes (!) during that the application is not responding

Could this be improved?

How is the performance of the same dialog in v4?

Feels even worse. I just tested:

  1. First time load of the dialog: 43 seconds
  2. Editing a value and selection another language: 22 seconds
  3. Editing a value and hitting Add/Update: 18 seconds (I guess it is the same as 2.)

You can imagine how much fun it is to write a method with a few dialog messages that have to be translated…

You say it feels worse but the numbers are a lot lower than you reported for v3.
Still, they are quite high, please file a case so that we can investigate.
If possible attach a sample solution that contains your big set of messages so we have a proper set for testing.

what happens if you just set some indexes on the i18n columns (like language but also key)?
