I just left a client who couldn’t get on to our c3net.com system. She has a brand new PC with Vista which is running Java standard edition 6. I did all the clearing of caches etc.
We get as far as being able to log in with userid and password then it hangs with a blank grey screen.
Am scheduled to meet with another client next week who has the same problem and also has a new PC with Java 6.

I also sit on Vista system with the latest Java version and sometimes have the problem that clients don’t start. I have the impression that on a LAN it is never a problem, but over the net it is.

Can you ask the client to turn on java console in webstart?
It could be that a stack trace in the java console gives us a hint.

Good news!!!
Just returned from our client with Java 6 locking problem. I installed Java 7 and the problem disappeared. K
Rob: the console shows nothing in this case.
