jcompagner:
normal foundsets will not update there records when there is an addition
this should be done by related foundsets
Now I’m confused as well ![Laughing ]()
Our situation is: we have a record view form with a tab panel on it and the subform is put in the tab panel with a relation and it is table view (locked).
But I don’t think it is an issue with relations because both relation lists and normal lists are behaving the same way.
I also don’t understand why “normal foundsets will not update there records when there is an addition”, but will update when there is a deletion or edition? ![Rolling Eyes ]()
additions are special, when does something apply to a foundset? Where should it be inserted (order by)
for a relation we have all the info and we just refresh the related foundset. This is just not the case for normal foundset they wont see an addition because then we should just requery all the foundset that are on a table
So that we know for sure that the new data falls into the foundset and is on the right place of the ordering.
This we do only for related foundset
So if you have a case where you see that a related foundset doesnt get the new data that an other clients inserts then that is something for us to investigate.
I think I have understood how it works now.
And I think we use only normal foundsets as in our subform we use a tab panel link to a relation to filter what will be displayed in the subform list.
So I think we will need to add a “refresh” button in order to update the list if you add something and your colleague wants to see it.
For the related foundset you say that you have all the info and just need to refresh. How can you the info about something which doesn’t exist yet? ![Rolling Eyes ]()
By the way, as addition update works on related foundsets, how do you create a list linked to a relation (which displays the result of a relation)?
we know the relation criteria so we know +/- if the new record would fall in this relation by testing the criteria you have specified on the new record
and if we think it is a hit. We requery the related foundset.

Aahh ok! Clever ![Very Happy :D]()
I’ll try to look if I can’t use more related foundsets in my solution then ![Wink ]()
Many thx for all your quick replies and your patience ![Very Happy :D]()
