This function – menu.setSelected(true) – does not work as far as I can tell. Could it be because I am on a mac and it is not available as a mac function (like the mnmonic key)?

From what I can tell (on OS 10.4 Java 1.5) it seems to work if you are using either ‘createCheckboxMenuItem’ or ‘createRadioButtonMenuItem’ but does not seem to work with the general ‘createMenuItem’. By ‘work’ I just mean that the ‘selected’ menu item shows up ‘as selected’ (checked or radio-buttoned depending on which was created). Not quite sure what is done with that but it does show up correctly in my sample solution at least on my Mac.
