Apple Java 1.4.2 Update 1

Postby Riccardino » Wed Aug 11, 2004 9:36 am

Is it a suggested update or does it give problems with the current versions of Servoy (2.0.4 and 2.1RC2)?

I updated 2 machines with 10.3.5 and Java 1.4.2 Update 1.

Looks like you get a new 'busy' cursor (blue 'colourwheel) wich feels pretty nice. You get more feedback that something is working (after you clicked on something for example)

Seems to work fine with 2.0.4 (so far)

Downloaded 2.1RC2 and it seems to work fine as well.

I would do some more testing when I have more time.

Hope this helps.

I did the same with my Powerbook.
The speed seems increased, but I had a huge form redrawing issue (objects literally disappearing from the form and the toolbars).
Not sure if it's new Java's fault, anyway I would suggest to be careful in updating production machines.

Strange. We've updated most of our test machines and havn't seen any problems. Performance is much better and things like 'disappearing menus' have vanished.

I made some more tests, and I must say that probably the strange problems I reported could not be directly related to new Java release (actually, I experienced them on a machine with old Java too, and they disappeared the day after).
