Servoy 2.1 Release Candidate 4 available

Postby Jan Aleman » Thu Aug 19, 2004 10:35 pm

IMPORTANT: If you have any solutions in Servoy 2.0 now is the time to test if they work properly with 2.1. Servoy 2.1's feature set is now frozen and only fixes will be issued if any bugs are found. If you find any issues with this build please post them in the Bugs section of the forum, mention which version you are using and on which operating system.

NOTE: this is PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE, use with caution and make BACKUPS before you start.

Install in a separate directory or over 2.1 beta x, preferrably not in your default 2.0 Servoy directory (so you can easily move back to your production version). Before launching it make sure Sybase is not running to avoid connecting to your production repository. If you do not know how to stop Sybase restart your machine.

ONLY use in production after thorough testing.

This version is available through auto update (if you have beta update notify enabled). Additionally it can be downloaded in the beta section of download at http://developer.servoy.com. If you did not install rc3 and do an auto update ASA will not be updated (9.0.0 to 9.0.1)

[enh]-lazy docs loading
[fix]-image loading via media url sometimes did stop painting
[fix]-lookups not working in portals
[fix]-alignment problem after import
[fix]-loosing showFocus, showClick properties
[fix]-better client cleanup on server page
Check http://forum.servoy.com/viewtopic.php?t=2644 for earlier enhancements and fixes.

I notice that the installer zip download is now considerably smaller than previous versions.

Previous installer zips were 40+ mb whilst this one is showing as just 28.5 mb

Any key installer differences that we need to be aware of before I go ahead and install it ?

Thanks
Harry

The smaller size is caused by the enh 'lazy docs loading'. The default installer doesnt include documentation and the first time you open help it will offer you to download the helpfiles.

Downloading help files

Postby Ron » Sat Aug 21, 2004 8:58 pm

I opened the help menu for the first time and got the message: ''do you want to install now". >OK , "failed to install dev. doc.".
I asume that the help files have to be downloaded from the internet.
Problem is that currently MY box has no internet connection. :(
Is there any other way to obtain the help files?
