Impact of OSX Intel on Servoy

Postby bubba » Wed Jun 08, 2005 4:15 pm

Hi Guys:

Any general discussion on the impact of OSX Intel on Servoy? I would think it won't be a big deal as Servoy is Java based, but ya never know. Maybe it will be faster?

It will be an interesting year for sure!

Servoy announces the immediate availability of Servoy on OSX on Intel. Additionally future compatability for OSX on AMD is also confirmed.

Unconfirmed sources note that the performance is blistering and many users question why Apple didn't make this move earlier.

Yeah, Jan needed that time to try find step 3 of the conversion procedure.
But there was no step 3.

One more thing: Did I mention Servoy runs really fast on OS X Intel?

Jan:

Great news!

Is it faster then on a typical Windows box? We have a couple of the new MacBooks on order. Can't wait.

Is version 3 officially in "beta" yet?

Thanks,

Apple doesn't allow us to comment on unreleased hard and software so all I can say is i'm typing this on a notebook that rhymes with hell and it is slower running Servoy than a book that ends with Pro.

Here's a generic tip before ordering any hardware you wish to run Servoy on: put Servoy installer (only 32 MB) on your USB stick, go to a store where the desired hardware is on display and try it for a few hours. Definetely worth the investment!

Is version 3 officially in "beta" yet?

No, it is in alpha at the moment. Keep tuned for the beta. The alpha's are pretty good however in terms of stability.

Nah, us Mac diehards always order the new stuff sight unseen. ;-) My order was up as soon as the Apple web site was up. We'll leave it to you to make it work fast now.

Glad to hear V3 is coming along. We need to wait for the beta. I get in enough trouble for rushing things around here. Views and Active directory are show stoppers for us.

Cheers!
