BETA of New Solution Files Available

Postby bcusick » Wed Mar 29, 2006 9:36 pm

Hello everyone!

Due to popular request (or more than just "requests") - we have been working to update our example files that ship with the product.

CRM (svyCRM), Document Management (svyDoc) and Form Letters (svyFormLetters) are new Servoy demo solutions that will ship with the Servoy 2.2.x full installer starting in April 2006; will be made compatible with Servoy Web Client; and bundled with Servoy 3.0. Each of the example files is completely open source -- meaning that you have full access to the code to learn from, or even to change the code. These are BETA versions.

You can download a version either with or without the new Sybase database ("UDM.db"). These versions were build in 2.2.4 - and requires Servoy 2.2.4 or higher to run.

Please send all feedback and bug reports directly to me at: bcusick@servoy.com or post here in this forum topic. DO NOT send email about these solutions to the regular Servoy support channels.

Not Yet.

But how could I afford to miss your impromptu Q&A session in the hotel bar just as in AMS

Servoy Developer
Version R2 2.2.4-build 336
Java version 1.5.0_05-48 (Mac OS X)

Installed the svyDoc solution and chose to download the jPedal bean at the opening prompt.

I found that the download placed the bean directly in the applications folder and had named the bean ' servoy/beans/jpedal.jar' with the path delimiters as part of the filename !!

Thus the file resided in the Applications folder and NOT in the beans folder.

You may want to chcek the download process

Cheers

Cool!

Just more proof that you should get a dual-core Mac and use Windows...

Seriously, I'll have a look at the code and let you know when it's resolved. BTW, did you use the download with the sybase file or the other one?

I have made a new DOWNLOAD - available at the same location.

Fixes in BETA 01 BUILD 5:

[fix] jpedal download on mac put jar in wrong location
[fix] changed the mac style to look better on the mac
[fix] unchecked the "showClick" property on various buttons to look better on mac

If you have a previously installed version of the sample files - then DO update the styles when prompted during import.

I just reviewed the new solutions and like them a lot. Nice clean user interface. I particularly liked the instant generation of reports from the Reports popup. The "Admin" tab makes it a snap to change values lists and perform ad hoc SQL queries. The help module is nicely implemented providing context sensitive help.

At first I was a little confused with the Prior and Next buttons being used to navigate both records and tabs depending on where I was in the user interface, however, after using if for a while I found that it works well.

The document management solution also has some nifty features. In fact I think I will start using it myself right away.

Great job Bob!

BTW I downloaded the NON-sybase version

Hi Bob

Tried to install the examples and got stuck at the database connection, getting an error message: java.sql.SQLException: JZ00L: Login failed. Examine the SQLWarnings chained to this exception for the reason(s).

Have you got any idea?

Best regards, Robert

Hi Bob

I tried again and again, and suddenly the db connection was successful - very strange.

Best regards and restful easter!
