New Install OS X 10.7.3 Failed

Postby MacSince85 » Tue Feb 21, 2012 12:21 am

I am trying to install Servoy 6 on a brand new Mac Book Pro and the installer seems to have killed my computer. I ran the All in One installer and chose the option to install Postgres Enterprise DB with servoy. The first thing the installer said was that it need to download Postgress. Then it said the download was complete and that I should continue the process of installing postgres. I selected continue and a dialog box appeard that said postgres need to adjust shared memory. I said OK. Another box said I needed to restart to apply these changes and continue the install process. I said OK and restarted my computer only it did not restart. Now my computer will not boot and is total not working. It seems to me that the installer broke my Computer. I am lost and don't know where to turn or what to do.

Help Please!

Hi Tom,

It sounds like your system already had issues before you installed PostgreSQL and that the installer was just the last drop in the bucket.
I have used that installer on many many systems and never seen the issue you are describing.

Anyway, what you should do is restart your system with the option-key pressed. This will show the boot manager where you can select the Recovery disk. Click on the arrow underneath the Recovery drive icon and it will continue booting into that.
Now you should get a window where you have a few options. Select the Disk Utility and then hit the Repair Disk button.
After this is done it's also recommended to Repair Disk Permissions.
When this has all run without issues then reboot and it should boot back into your regular system.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply

I know that i have never had any problem with the installer and since this is a brand new computer i do not understand the problem.

OK So I ran disk utility, repaired disk permissions. I still get the same results.

I will attempt to attach a screen it.
This is the content of sysctl.conf.
kern.sysv.shmmax=33554432
kern.sysv.shmmin=1
kern.sysv.shmmni=256
kern.sysv.shmseg=64
kern.sysv.shmall=8192

Thanks for your help.
