Linux and fonts

Postby antonio » Thu Apr 26, 2012 8:40 am

We've jsut moved our Servoy 5 server from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Debian Linux.
Most everything works fine but we've noticed that some fonts get substituted. We use the pdf_output plugin to generate print jobs.
I'm quite new to Linux, but I suspect that the default fonts are different to those on the Mac OSX environment that I develop on.

Could anyone advise me
- what are 'safe' fonts that I can use when developing on Mac and serving on a Linux box with default fonts?
or
- Are there equivalent fonts I could install on linux? At first look, the elements that are affected are all Tahoma.

Thanks in advance.

This site http://www.codestyle.org/css/font-family/sampler-CombinedResults.shtml lists fonts common to Windows, Mac and Linux. According to that, Tahoma should be a safe bet.
