Postby Juan Etec » Tue Sep 04, 2012 2:44 pm

Hi,
I am trying install a smart-client in a computer with Window 7 Home Premium 64 bits, java version I tried with the last 7 and with 6.
First I download the .jnlp file, double click, start to install it and suddenly it stop.

Before was install AVG antivirus I uninstalled it.
The firewall is totally disable.
The program is deploy with servoy 6.0.7.
I had problem before with another computer with the AVG but this time is uninstalled.

I always before de download clean all the java programs in the Control Java panel -> configuration -> delete files

Please any ideas??

Have you checked the java console? http://www.java.com/en/download/help/javaconsole.xml

There you probably get an error message.

So your entire client just disappears?

Do you have any errors in the log of the server?

I have no errors in the server log.
I do not even know if the client is reaching the server.
How could I know that?

I think that something in the local machine is stopping the downloading of the solution shortcut.
I can download the jnlp but when I launch it, it suddenly stops.

This looks like a corrupted Java or something.

first, de-install all Java versions.
after that, check if there any Java folders left under: Program FIles or Program Files (x32) -> remove those.
Clear your .servoy folder under Documents & Settings or Users.

than install the latest Java 6 (Windows offline) here: http://www.java.com/java6download (I choose for clients always the 32 bit Java version, also when your OS is 64 bit.)
After that try again.

Because of some dependancies of the browsersuite plugins. (xulrunner does not run on 64 bit!)

and thereby it doesn't make much sense to run a 64bit Java for a smart-client. (serverside we DO use 64bit because you can than allocate more memory!)
if you need to allocate more than 1,5GB RAM for a smart-client, than something need to be looked at, in programming! ;-)

So to be as much compatible, we use 32-bit.
