wrapper service already exist

Postby automazione » Tue Aug 12, 2003 3:53 pm

Before installing 1.1 final I uninstalled 1.1 RC5 from a win2k machine, rebooted, started the install, skipped the firebird installation and got: wrapper \create service failed... service already exist (0x431) proceed? Yes or No. Selected YES and everything seems to be working fine... is it really OK?

Thanks in advance

It looks like the uninstaller doesnt uninstall the Service sometimes on Windows. If you run Servoy Application Service as a Windows service I recommend you to re-install it to ensure it works properly. First uninstall the old service:

Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Servoy\service\Wrapper.exe" -r "C:\Program Files\Servoy\service\wrapper.conf"

Adjust paths if necessary

Then re-install the Service:
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Servoy\service\Wrapper.exe" -i "C:\Program Files\Servoy\service\wrapper.conf"

Same problems 1.2rc6

Postby Ron » Wed Oct 29, 2003 11:11 pm

This is the second release with installing problems.
Never had any problems with earlier builts.
I am on XP.
I uninstalled Servoy and Firebird before installing 1.2RC6.
Again I got this wrapper message when installing Firebird.
After launching Servoy I got a message that the repository server could not be found.
Last built I managed somehow to get it working, this time I gave up.
Any help will be appreciated.

BTW: I red there are problems with de deinstallation of the Windows Service. When do I have to remove / install the wrapper service with the supplied command code?

You can run the commands specified earlier after installation. We'll try to integrate it in the installer to avoid the error messages and manual re-config.

As we say in Dutch; Don't make an elifant of a mouse!
I'll get this message everytime when I do a install (over the previous version) Servoy tries to install the services, and Servoy reports (correctly!) that the services already exists

The message comes at the end of the installation process, rather you install firebird or not!

Ron: if you do a (fresh) install of Servoy, you don't have to de-install Firebird, de-install only Servoy. This prevents you of Firebird not (accidently)working correctly!

Thanks for the tip HJK, and Jan for the fast reply.
The thing is, I de-installed both Servoy and Firebird already.
Unfortunately I still get the following message while launching Servoy Dev.: "Can't connect to repository server specified in het application preferences".
I did the wrapper code trick and rebooted my machine, but this does'nt help.
How can I get this new masterpiece working?

Did you also reinstall Firebird? Can you check in your services control panel if firebird is there and if it is running?

Servoy is running!
I am sure it was a XP problem.
I messed with spamkillers.
So I restored a image of my C, uninstalled Servoy and
installed Servoy 1.2RC6.
Though I got the wrapper message, Servoy launched fine.
Thanks for your assistance.
