Error installing Servoy to Windows 2000

After downloading the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition, V1.4.2 and NetBeans IDE 3.5.1, I proceeded to download "servoy_installer_windows". When I double clicked to install Servoy, a Servoy error message came up saying "Unable to execute the specified command line?" Can you help? Scott

I took a look at the posting that you referred to and I also had my system administrator look at the problem, but we are unable to figure out what is going on.

I was able to download & install the Java software (j2sdk-1_4_2-nb-3_5_1-bin-windows) and the NetBeans IDE 3.5.1 which came bundled with Java. I was also able to download the Servoy software "servoy_installer_windows", but when I attempt to install the files, just after the window that says "Extracting servoy_installer_windows.jar..." an error message comes up that says "Unable to execute the specified command line!".

I have deleted all the files (including the Java & NetBeans and Servoy) several times but I always end up with the same result.

Need some help ...

Have you tried re-downloading the servoy-software?
there are reports of corrupted downloads, that produces the same error-message.

or try to start the demo-client: http://demo.servoy.com:8080
does this work?

I have tried re-downloading the servoy-software several times with no success. The download goes fine, but when I try click on the "Open" button, then I get the error message. I tried the link to the "demo-client: http://demo.servoy.com:8080" - the download went fine, but again, when I click the "Open" button, I get error messages. I have some screen captures of the error messages if it would help for me to email them to you. Otherwise, no success yet. Appreciate your help, but this is getting tiresome.

This has defenetly nothing to do with Servoy but with JAVA on your machine!
delete every Java under Software
than delete every entry in explorer under c:\Program Files that has something to do with Java
start: regedit and delete every entry that has something to do with Java
HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\JAVASOFT.
than restart you computer.
goto: http://demo.servoy.com:8080
check the link (in the bottom) to check if you have the right JRE installed.
The automated-install process begins and in the end, the java-cup is showing up!
than go back and try to launch the servoy client.!
If that is working, than you can install Servoy Developer.

Continuing problems, but getting closer ... ?

I followed the instructions in your last post. Here's what's happening: after clicking the link for the JRE, I proceed until I get a Security Warning stating "Warning: The authenticity of this content cannot be verified, therefore it cannot be trusted." The problem is "Content does not match the signature." But I hit the Yes button anyways to install & run the Java installer.

As it begins to install Java, I get an error that says,
"Error 1305.Error reading from file http://java.sun.com/webapps/download/GetFile/1.4.2
_02-b03/windows-j586/Java 2 Runtime Enviroment,
SE v1.4.2_02.msi. Verify that the file exists and that
you can access it."

Any ideas? My IT system administrator is also unable to help me.

By the way, I am located in the Minneapolis, MN are of USA; the local time here is 11:10 am. The last post was made just a couple of minutes ago. What is the local time where you are replying from?

IN the profile you can set your timezone, I think for you gmt -6?

than you have the right time!

It looks like you have no rights to install, are download software?
are administrator on the machine?
Put your internet security a little more down, mabey this helps.

To the contrary, I do have complete rights to download & install software; I already checked with the IT Admin on that question. My understanding is that I am not restricted in any way on my machine. Scott; Thursday, 12/4/03, 11:50 am local time.

than try to download from http://java.sun.com
goto java 1.4.2 SDK and download the windows offline installation!
Try to install this one and try again!

Can you try to install a java version that doesnt include netbeans?

Finally - it worked!

I did the last 2 things that JDK advised, namely, using the offline installation of Java from the Java web site http://java.sun.com and I also went into the Internet Security level of my computer & took a couple of those settings from medium to low security. The offline installation of Java worked, so I then tried to start the client version of Servoy (http://demo.servoy.com:8080) which I had downloaded earlier to my desk top, BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. "Here we go again", I thought. Then I double clicked on the Servoy Developer version which I had also downloaded earlier - AND IT DID WORK! So for now anyway, I have a working software that I can use. I haven't had the time to do anything with it yet, but I will. (I also downloaded a free 1 month trial version of FileMaker Pro 6 - will I even want to build anything in FileMaker now that I can use Servoy?)
