Citrix

Find out how to get things done with Servoy. Post how YOU get things done with Servoy

Citrix

Anyone has experience with Servoy and Citrix??
Is it compatible?
Does it work?
Since Servoy is also a thin client...it's quite odd to use a thin client within a thin client.... But then again my client uses it...

it should work but is a very, very strang option
And you have to have pretty heavy hardware to support quite a few clients

The hardware is OK....they have 5 heavy duty servers for all kinds of applications.
They use Citrix for all the administrative software (also Filemaker) and they want to stay on Citrix...
Do you expect that combining Citrix with Servoy will result in problems or additional server-hardware??

Just to understand. Why do they want to stay with Citrix.

I have been working with a company that worked with Citrix as well since it helped them to keep all applications/data centralised and manageable.

For that reason I fully understand why they wanted to have Filemaker on Citrix since FM needs an application installed on every client machine...

With Servoy this is not the case. You deploy centrally and the clients are updated automatically so no need to do anything on the clients machine at all...

Would it make sense to explain them that Servoy applications won't make their life more difficult without running them via Citrix...

You know how system-operators (systeembeheerders) are....
If it deviates from the normal situation....they don't like it...

I already told them that Servoy has a zero-deployment client....
but they still prefer it on Citrix......the only reason they gave me: they like uniformity

Do the clients only use citrix or can they also use the internet explorer on there own machine?

Servoy runs fine on Citrix and/or Windows Terminal Services.

The one thing I'm curious about is, in a Citrix environment, a clients individual properties file that stores their login information, like their user name for the login window, seems to be shared by all.

That way, on Citrix, the name in the login window will always be the last user to log in to Servoy on Citrix... anywhere in the world.

Is there any way around this?

We will add this to the feature request list. Currently username is indeed pre-filled based on IP address.

Any possibility of getting this fixed/enhanced in the coming release?

Can I reset this locally in each person's servoy preferences stored in each of their profiles on the server?

yes you can if you delete the .servoy dir in the user.dir of all the users...

We are storing the login info in the servoy-client.properties file under the key:user.loginname

So if everybody has its own servoy-client.properties file it should go ok.
