I'm working on a application that manages the building-process and the backend-office of architects and engineers, and we offer modules that gather data for the building-site, like defects and workbook-data, which is tied to specific locations on the site.
Right now, the Information, which rooms and floors etc. are in the building is entered manually or imported from files like csv or xlsx.
As far as I understand, this data can also be read from the ifc-files (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industry_Foundation_Classes) which are the transfer-format for BIM (Building Information Model) which is used in modern data exchange between engineers and architects.
And, when this part is solved, we would be interested if we could add our data to the ifc-files, since that could help the data-exchange with people ion the bulding-site.
Does anyone have experience with accessing ifc-files, which libraries can be successfully used?
