HOWTO: Extend form objects with precision

Postby mattman » Thu Nov 06, 2003 10:08 am

When designing your forms, Servoy offers a great feature of being able to enlarge or reduce various form objects by holding down the key combination of shift-arrow key.

Whichever arrow key you use the object will resize in that direction only - by one pixel at a time. Hold down the arrow key and your object will grow or shrink right before your eyes.

A great time saver!

additional note:

Have a close look at the Designer TAB in the application preferences.
I've attached my settings.
If you allow yourself to get used to the short cut keys
you'll never use alignment tool anymore.(at least I don't)

1)Make sure you activate "snap to grid"
2) I've set gridsize and guidesize to 5 and stepsize to 5 and 20
This way you'll always be in line with the grid when using shortcut keys.

Ctrl+Arrow= step by 5
Alt+Arrow = step by 20

Shift+Ctrl+Arrow= resize by 5
Shift+Alt+Arrow= resize by 20
