Logging into a solution before it's fully imported

When importing to the application server, the solution becomes available to the clients before it is finished importing. And today it very much looked like picking that solution before it finished importing held up the import itself until i closed that client (which never fully entered the solution). Then the import finished properly. Any chance you can prevent the solution name from showing in the solution picker until the import is complete?

Ellen,

You can set the server in maintenance mode, via the admin servlet or the maintenance plugin.
This will prevent new clients from logging in.

Rob -- does that still allow currently logged in smart clients to function? I am just trying to put up a new version, and don't want to take the server down to do that...

Ellen,

Yes it should allow existing clients to continue working, it just prevents new clients from connecting.

OK -- here's my feature request then -- is it at all possible to give a nice message to the clients who try to login while in maintenance mode? The error that comes up makes it unusable for me, in the customer service environment i'm in with this client.

Thanks...

Ellen,

Please file a feature request to make the maintenance-mode message configurable.
