Microsoft Metro to (eventually) replace .NET:

I thought the Servoy community would be interested in what the competition is up to, plus I wanted to make Servoy aware of Metro.

replace .NET that sound weird,
Metro is a UI (style), .NET is platform (just like java) but then for multiply languages where you can build metro style apps with if you want to.

I dont think Microsoft is going to replace .NET framework, because Visual Studio 2011 is included in Windows 8 and uses .NET framework 4.5 http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27537

You can create Metro-style apps with VS11 using C# .NET or any other .NET language included in VS11.

You can download Windows 8 Developer with VS11 here : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/br229516 , even Servoy works on it ;)

What do you mean with 'Servoy works on it'? Are you saying that you won't need Java? Can you explain further?

You will need Java, else the Eclipse environment wont work. But in the most test/beta versions of Windows it is not possible to install Java. But on this test version of Windows 8 it is possible to install almost anything.

oh yeah, in the beta's of Win7 it worked. But in Vista I always got the message that I should atleast run Windows XP
