Servoy Developer location manager

Postby Karel Broer » Wed Jun 06, 2007 9:18 am

 I think it would be great to have some kind of way to save different database and Servoy Developer settings
in Servoy Developer for different locations or customers.

What I do right now is save the different servoy.properties files in named folders,
but I think it would be really nice to save and switch with those properties in a 'location manager'.
(Like Apple has with network settings).

(I can imagine that restarting Servoy Developer is nessecary after switching from location,
but I don't think that's a problem).

Hi Dave,

It's not exactly the same as wat Karel is proposing.
In your situation you have 16 installations of Servoy.
What Karel wants is to be able to choose a property file when he launches his single installation of Servoy.

Having multiple installations of Servoy makes management also a bit more complex. (new database connections that are needed in multiple instances, third party plugins/beans, etc).
Believe me I know...I have every Servoy version installed all the way back to 1.2 ;)

Nah same thing as Karel. Those are all duplicated dev apps in the same install directory each pointing to their own properties file:

Saves a bit of work of having to switch out properties files. And you can have all 16 open at once which I do to keep my office warm sometimes.
