Add context menu item to open method in editor

Postby fsciweb » Fri Nov 02, 2007 12:31 am

Provide a context menu item in Developer to open an elements onAction method.

OR even better:

Provide context menu or doubleclick in the properties pane that will open ANY method for any trigger in the editor - ie, double click on the onAction term in the Property column, and it opens up the editor with method for that trigger - OR pops up the new method dialog if not.

Reason:

While form based methods are easy to get to once editor is opened (if you're on that form already) we're using more and more global methods.

With a context menu to quickly get to a listed method eliminating hunting for a global method in a large editor tree list is a great time saver.

This forum is really for checking that somebody agrees with your request if you want backup for it.

Otherwise you should use the support system. Please check the sticky for this...

I'm testing the waters first - if someone says..

well, we do it this way

And its a reasonable solution, no new feature is really needed.

If many people say...

wow, that would be great!

It's much more likely to be included in Servoy quickly.

With 4.0 announced I don't think it makes too much sense to ask Servoy to spend too much additional time on the current version of developer.

Hmm, I read this again, you can do a control mouseclick on the method.
That brings the methodeditor to the front with the method opened...

Is that what you ask for?

btw on mac this is alt, apple and then a mouseclick.

Exactly what i'm looking for.

So pressing CTRL + click on method opens up method in editor.

Perfect :-)

I'd checked the docs related to the Form Properties and Elements sections, yet didn't find anything on this.

Only after your post did I do a search on CTRL and found it in the editing methods section.

Thanks for pointing it out to me.
