I have used Servoy with SQL Anywhere and MySQL on MacTel macs extensively. To date I have found that the MySQL repository version seemed a lot faster both at start up and in operation. MySQL also benefited from Navicat which was handy because on the flip side it managed to corrupt its self !!! SQL Anywhere seems to be both robust and well respected by the key players ie Jan Aleman etc so deserves more investigation.
Its my intention to run Servoy and a "database" which would almost certainly have been MySQL due to my familiarity with it, on two different MacTel Xserve's My understanding, which could be wrong, is that in order to do this sort of configuration with SQL Anywhere I would need a fairly expensive additional license ($3495) which on top of a CPU license for Servoy make it a very costly additional consideration.
On the subject of MySQL corruption this presented by stopping the web client displaying correctly ie lost the css formatting in both Firefox and Nightly - I have also had SyBase corrupt its self in the past and had a lot more difficulty recovering from the situation - so perhaps I am bias!
Not sure that helps - but by all means contact me direct if you want any further info.
