i have enabled java in jasper report and no issues are there.
I have tried to run the report and its showing error as "java.lang.CharSequence cannot be resolved.It is indirectly referenced to from required .class file".
Please see the attached image for the error.

I figured out that , its java version error . 1.8 works smooth....
