New Servoy Cloud Storage & Cloud Tools Plugins Available

Postby sbutler » Mon Apr 12, 2021 4:38 pm

We've released two new plugins for general availability. We put a lot of work into them, and we are excited to share them with you! These plugins are free to all our customers with an active All Products Pack subscription or priced individually otherwise.

Cloud Storage Plugin:
Interact with popular cloud storage providers, such as Amazon S3, Azure, OneDrive, Google Cloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint Online, Generic S3, SFTP, FTP and more! List, Upload, Download, Delete, and get object info with the same Servoy code. Interact with cloud providers just like an FTP server! Bonus: The SFTP functionality is also superior to our older FTP plugin and supports the latest encryption standards to work with modern servers.

Cloud Tools Plugin:
Multi-cloud toolkit to allow you to easily integrate with many popular online cloud infrastructure services like Amazon AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Rackspace, and other providers offering standards based APIs. Interact with buckets and storage options, as well as Compute instances and Lambda.

FAQ:

There seems to be an overlap in features of the plugins, since they both do cloud storage. Which one should I use?
If your primary goal is to have FTP like access to as many cloud services as possible, then the Cloud Storage plugin is for you. It has a wider range of supported providers and a simpler API. If your primary goal is to use your Servoy solution to assist in DevOps or other cloud automation, then the Cloud Tools plugin is for you.

Can I use both at the same time?
No, not yet. There are some dependency issues between them that we are working out. We don't expect the need to use both, but if you do have that business requirement, let us know and we'll prioritize it.

How do I know what credentials to use to authenticate?
We put together a knowledge base article here to help with that for some of the popular providers. We'll be expanding that as needed. Some providers, like OneDrive, which authenticate with end user credentials (not server-side credentials) use oAuth, so you'll need to be authenticating users via oAuth with those services in order to pass an oAuth token for authentication into the plugin.
