maximum of addresses in To, CC, BCC with the Mail plugin

Anyone know what the maximum number of addresses is you can use with the mail plugin?
Is this string-size related or address count related?

No one knows ?
I know for sure there are several of you that already have a mailing solution. What is the maximum of addresses you ever put in one single mail command?
Can you tell me that ?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure, never tried more than several, but you could look it up in de mail RFC somewhere on the web.
btw my guess is 255 chars per field, same as url for example

I think it's more. I've used with a Lasso Prof. based mailing solution 400 addresses per mail command.
That is way past the 255 character limit.

But I will check out the RFC's.
Thanks!

Well I checked RFC821 (SMTP) and it doesn't state any limit.
So I guess I have to come back to my original question.

I know there are several forum users here that have a mailing solution. What is the maximum of addresses used in a single mail command that you ever did?
Or do you break it up in smaller part already. What is the size of that part?

Thanks!
