Servoy announcements

Servoy 2021.12.0

Postby jcompagner » Tue Jan 04, 2022 6:17 pm

We are pleased to announce the availability of Servoy 2021.12 (release number 3722)

Look at the whats new for more info about the 2021.12.x changes
For all fixes in this release see issues list.

This version is available through the the download site

We ship only installers, so for windows an exe file and for osx a dmg, for linux we have a archive tar file.

The full installers/archives are only for new installs, never use that to update/overwrite an existing install, existing installations should always be updated through the "check for updates".
This release can be updated by using the "latest" url: http://download.servoy.com/developer/latest/ (when you come from 2019.03 or higher)
This release is build on Eclipse 2021.09 (4.21)

If check for updates says there are no updates, then it could be a caching problem of eclipse, please restart the developer once and try again.

We ship a java with our installation (Java 17.0.1). So there doesn't need to be a java installed on the system anymore.
Also with a next update, we can update the java version with it so no need to keep it up to date yourself anymore.

This is a release in our quarterly release cycle, if you want to stay on the LTS path you need to stick to 2021.03.1 LTS and enabled only the lts update site.

Congratulations on the new release!
I just downloaded the Mac version, but it seems to be just the 'Intel' version, how do I get the new Apple Silicon M1 (Universal) version?
Thanks

Hi,

According to the release notes, this version includes the Apache log4j V2.17.1.

If I look at the JAR files included in the download I see the following files:
Code: Select all
-rw-r--r--@ 1 stevehawes  admin   325585  4 Jan 15:36 log4j-api.jar
-rw-r--r--@ 1 stevehawes  admin  1905189  4 Jan 15:36 log4j-core.jar
-rw-r--r--@ 1 stevehawes  admin    29445  4 Jan 15:36 log4j-slf4j-impl.jar
-rw-r--r--@ 1 stevehawes  admin    35962  4 Jan 15:36 log4j-web-2.17.1.jar

But if you inspect the JAR files that are included in the official Apache 2.17.1 release you get the following:
Code: Select all
-rw-r--r--  1 stevehawes  admin   301873 27 Dec 23:24 log4j-api-2.17.1.jar
-rw-r--r--  1 stevehawes  admin  1790452 27 Dec 23:24 log4j-core-2.17.1.jar
-rw-r--r--  1 stevehawes  admin    21267 27 Dec 23:25 log4j-slf4j18-impl-2.17.1.jar
-rw-r--r--  1 stevehawes  admin    35961 27 Dec 23:26 log4j-web-2.17.1.jar

Why are the files in the Servoy download different?

Thanks
Steve

in application_server\lib we strip the versions (for most of them) because of our legacy application server (else the batch files, wrapper confs that we had constantly needs to change)

thats why log4j-slf4j-impl.jar is also called like that and not log4j-slf4j18-impl.jar

so the files are not different, they just have a different name...

Also if you use a tool/scanner and that reports that as a problem then immediately stop using that tool, because a tool never should look at the file names, but actually at the file contents (so META-INF/manifest.mf)

It's not the file names I'm worried about, it's the big difference in file sizes!

Upgraded to 2021.12, updated packages, built war file. When i try and deploy the war file on our test server Tomcat is unable to start our app.

you seem to have multiply jars of log4j that are not only ours..
because you have signing differences between jars (of log4j) that shouldn't be there
Did you stil have some left overs of your own patch that you maybe applied?

What is the directory contents of the xxx.WAR/WEB-INF/lib folder? (war is just a zip)

Hi,

Sorry, my fault, had copied updated versions of Log4j as per posts on fixing vulnerability and hadn't removed them.

Since updating to 2021.12.0 we are getting the following error logged whenever we try to create a JWT token:
Code: Select all
ERROR plugin.jwt - Cannot create algorithm. Both public and private keys cannot be null.
ERROR plugin.jwt - The Algorithm cannot be null.
WARN com.servoy.j2db.util.Debug - A token could not be generated. Check JWT plugin configuration / server secret.
   at /Users/stevehawes/Dropbox/git/tsp/svySecurity/svySecurity.js:3015 (logWarning)
   at /Users/stevehawes/Dropbox/git/tsp/svySecurity/svySecurity.js:3495 (setToken)
   at /Users/stevehawes/Dropbox/git/tsp/svySecurity/svySecurity.js:299 (login)

I have checked and there is definitely a secret set.

Any ideas?

Thanks

at first glance that looks like a regression, because we check something (and throw that error if not everything is set) a bit to soon because the it could go on without that in this specific example
will have a look at it

Hi Johan,

Found another issue I'm afraid.

When you upload files using the MultiFile Upload component, the onFileUploaded method receives a JSUpload object and if you call the getName() method of that object it is now returning a UUID instead of the actual filename. As far as I can see there is now no way to get the filename from the JSUpload object which is a big problem for us.

Thanks
Steve
