Print Sliding Allow Shrink

I have a very simple report that just consists of 6 lines each with a single full width text_area on it, each text_area is just 14px high and set to grow, shrink & move vertically, each field is 1px below the one above.
I was hoping that if a field was empty that the others would move up and remove the empty lines - they do not!
Does anyone know if this is possible??
