duplicating the record data

Hi

Is there any way to duplicate the record with a little change?

The scenario is...

We have some products ordered, say Amino Acids...
We enter the data regarding the product in to the data base with 'lotno' as reference. After a day or two when we order the same product it comes with same data but the different 'lotno'.

Instead of again entering all the data in to the database... Is there any way I can duplicate the old record and change just the 'lotno'.

If this possible, somebody give me an idea how can I achieve this...

Press Ctrl-D or choose Select-Duplicate.
In a method you can do:
controller.duplicateRecord()
