Simultaneous development

If two or more are working on the same solution must they be working concurrently on the same network? Can they work from different locations at different times and have their work synchronized?
It seems to me when first learning of Servoy the answer was yes but I've not yet seen anything in the Developer User's Guide to cover this aspect.
