Calling a method directly from a field

I've just read about the ability to call a method from an HTML_AREA field in a form.

I'm sure this is useful, but am having an imagination failure, and would really like some examples of the type of useful functionality it may elegantly bring to get my creative juices flowing.

Thousands of possibilities: For example:
- a drill-down html report. you click on text and context aware get some new text
- display images in html, an 'edit' link pops up an image loader
etc
