NEWBY!!!!:help for search method

Hi all,
i'm sorry but i have a very newby question.
I have to create a text area in a form that allow end user to find a specified field and i don't how can i do :(
the element name (text_area) is "city"..how can i capture the text in city element??
and then
How can i search in my table for text??
Please help whith a sample code if possible.

The movie was based on an older version of Servoy, but many of the concepts are still the same.
