Safari 4.0.4 + 5.1.2 and newest Jasper Plugin Exception

Postby jbader » Tue Apr 13, 2010 5:43 pm

I updated to the newest Jasper plugin and to 5.1.2 at the same time so unfortunately I'm not sure whom the culprit is, but after upgrading I get the following exception when trying to "view" reports via webclient via runReport.... NOTE: This only happens in Safari. I have tested in Firefox and Chrome and this exception is not thrown.

"Error during evaluation:Wrapped java.lang.Exception: you can only locate or create sessions in the context of a request cycle"

thats a wierd error, but do you have a full stacktrace?

It seems that a wicket session is trying to be created at a certain point but it is not really a wicket request

How do you serve that report to the client? With the file plugin?

No via "view" output format of jasper plugin (which I believe sends application/pdf headers). I couldn't make the file plugin work correctly. Let me try and get a stacktrace for you.

Unfortunately the exception itself is not being sent all the way back to the plugin provider; to Servoy, and instead I have only an exception message string.

What code is then really run?
What is it that you exactly do? At what point do you get that exception?
Do you see anything in the logs on disk? also look at the tomcat logs?

Mystery solved...

As it turns out, **runReport can't be run from the interactive console (for testing) for a webclient debugging session**. If you try to execute runReport from the interactive console while debugging in webclient you will always get this exception.

As far as why I was having problems only in Safari, that was unrelated, and due to a bad build I made of the plugin.
