Displaying geoinformation

Postby Robert Huber » Tue Jun 29, 2010 1:24 pm

Hi All

We have a Servoy application with georeferenced points and lines, stored in the database (PostgreSQL/PostGIS). Now I am wondering how we could display such information in a web client for example? I am not talking about using Google Maps or something similar.
I would like to be able to display points and lines in a self defined grid (longitude/latitude) with the possibility to zoom in/out. Background would be a map in tiff format with a tfw file (tfw: ArcView world file for TIF image).
Has anybody done/tried something similar or can tell me if this is/could be possible in Servoy or if it's too far streched? What would it need (plug-ins, ...) to accomplish that? I could not find that JavaScript supports georeferencing in the Servoy 5.1. Are there any plans from Servoy to support georeferencing or is it already here and I did not find it?

Best regards, Robert

Hi Harjo

That was what I am looking for, I could not find the map plug-in. It was done by a guy from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and I found a reference on the Servoy web site to this project: http://www.servoy.com/generic.jsp?mt=39 ... omy_id=512
I once talked to this guy and as far as I remember he said he was going to release the plug-in, but I think it never happened. It's quite a long time since then.

Servoy people, do you know anything about the status of this project and possible about the map plug-in?

Feedback very welcome.

Regards, Robert

Hi Servoyans

Could anyone tell me what happened to the guy mentioned below. Anyone having an idea about the status of the plug-in (if the idea still exists)? Are there other projects out there offering a similar functionality?

Regards, Robert

Hi Robert,

I think you need to talk to Sean Devlin (now working for Servoy). He was involved in that project.
