Sample Webclient/Mobileclient solution

Postby Westy » Sun Oct 29, 2006 4:35 am

For those who may be interested in Servoy webclient, mobileclient (a/k/a headless client) and/or Acrobat PDF forms we have setup up a clone of our website and webclient/mobileclient solution at:

http://webclient.hopto.org
and
http://mobileclient.hopto.org

This is the same solution that was shown at my session at the Servoy conference. Please note that the solution was developed specifically for the Windows platform. Text, buttons, etc. may not appear properly on the Mac.

The webclient solution can be viewed by clicking the "Try It Free!" button on the right side of the home page. This is just a copy of the actual solution so you are welcome to experiment with it. The solution is intented for insurance agents, however it includes features that may apply to other vertical and horizontal markets.

The intent was to create a forms centric webclient solution that would reduce the "friction" between users and the solution. We found that new visitors to a web site often make up their mind whether to stay or leave within 8 seconds. We wanted our visitors to stay. With this in mind we designed our webclient interface to be similar to our website interface so that users would be able to easily move from one to the other. We wanted new users to be able to try out our solution immediately, without the need to download and install any software.

Our webclient solution includes the following:

1. runs primarily in one window (to avoid pop-ups)
2. single solution serves multiple insurance agencies
3. user can choose between just forms or agency management
4. includes over 700 fill-in PDF insurance forms
5. users can save their work using the free Acrobat Reader
6. forms can be combined into one PDF file for easy emailing
7. all reports appear in PDF format (for precise printing from a browser)
8. printouts of envelopes and labels can be repositioned by user on the fly (changes made in browser are instantly shown in PDF output)

We greatly appreciate all the efforts of the people at Servoy who made this solution possible.
