HTML Area / Javascript / Client Memory Limit?

I parse a dataset, for display as a Table, in an HTML area

after about 1500 lines ( approx 650Kb ), the CPU is at 100%, and the client appears to freeze

is there a practical size limit on text, in memory, or displayed?

I suspect it may vary by machine

Hi Greg,

My experience is that when a client runs out of memory the method simply stops. No errors, no messages. But also no more CPU load.
So it sounds something else is going on.
Is this a complex HTML document ? The used Sun HTML engine is not one of the fastest around.
What happens when you run the method in Developer ?

very plain HTML, just TR TD's

it did work, while testing in Developer 3.1.3, Win XP

it appears that the parsing freezes the client, even if I disable the display, on the Win 2000 client

as a workaround, I have limited the number of HTML lines, parse it as CSV (a much smaller result), and allow the user to save as CSV instead

You should double-check the client default heap size (default is 64MB). You should up it to 256MB on your admin page http://YOURIP:8080/servoy-admin
