Safari 3.0 beta: good news!!

Postby ngervasi » Tue Jun 12, 2007 1:58 pm

I've just tested some of my webclient applications with the new Apple Safari 3.0b and finally they are displaying perfectly!
No more cut down fields and strange artifacts, and it's really quick!

Good work Apple!

Yes, I just downloaded the new Safari for Windows. Blazingly fast. At first glance everything appears to work perfectly with Webclient. Even fillin-pdf forms.

The speed is astonishing. Memory usage started out at 59MB, after opening and closing a few windows I now see that it is taking up 82MB of RAM.

I am particularly impressed with the speed at which it manipulates PDF forms. Our webclient solution includes the ability to combine forms. This normally takes a while. Using Safari I just combined and opened 15 complex PDF forms in less than one second.

Apples says the iPhone will run the full version of Safari.

I am using 3.0 since yesterday evening.
L&F of buttons (see this forum) and combo's is sometimes different.
In daily use I see no difference (not in speed either) so I can not tell that the browser is better or not.
No bugs yet...

BTW I also installed in on my Vista vm without issues...

I saw a lot of bugs/issues
Even www.servoy.com site is not rendered properly

I was adding some bookmarks, after that the message:

re-install Safari, it is missing some properties :-(

(from what I saw, it is very fast!)

From what I hear the Windows build is pretty buggy. The Mac build is pretty stable.
The Servoy site renders fine for me (Mac OS X).
