Valuelist behaving differently form smartclient

Hi.

I was trying to add a feature to a small webclient solution that makes possible to select a customer from a valuelist or add a new one, if the name is not present in the list.
It works on the smartclient, but it fails in the webclient and I suspect that the problem comes from a different behaviour of the fields with an attached valuelist (type ahead or combo doesn't matter).
I set a list based on the company name to a global text field: if I manually enter a different name (to let my method create a new company and get back its pk), I get the correct value in the smartclient, but fails in the webclient and takes the pk of the first record in the company table.

After several tests, I figured out that the problem could be the valuelist: removing it and setting the field as a text field solves the problem (but obviously is not what I'm trying to achieve).

Any suggestion?
