Timelline for Servoy as an Eclipse Plugin?

Postby jbader » Mon Jan 12, 2009 10:05 pm

Wondering if there is any definite timeline for releasing Servoy as an Eclipse plugin (as opposed to a standalone eclipse application/distro)?

Hi Jeff,

I wanted Servoy to be an Eclipse Plug-in from the beginning as well but today I am not sure anymore.

What is the (big) advantage in your opinion?

In case that you release the plug-in version, are you planning to keep distributing the desktop servoy/eclipse application or it is going to be just the plug-in?

Currently I have one eclipse installation which has IDE's for all of the languages I write, then I also have an entirely different eclipse installation for Servoy. For me it is convenience not to have to switch between the two; install many of the same plugins (e.g. SVN); keep those plugins up to date in two installations etc.

I am all for distributing Servoy as a stand-alone distro, but it would be nice to also have it as a plugin. IMHO.

Thanks

So am I.
Just wanted to know what your motive is.

why not alter the servoy one then and add there also all the other languages. This should be doable by just installing it through the update manager
