newbie versioning question

Postby caroline.j » Tue Feb 14, 2012 7:58 pm

Ok I'm trying to get my head around the whole versioning bit and I'm falling at the first hurdle.

In the help it says:
To make a version of a project:

In one of the navigation views, select the project that you want to version.
From the project's context menu, select Team > Tag as Version.
Enter the name of the version you wish to create.
Click OK to close the Tag Resources dialog and create the version.

When I right click my project there is no Tag as Version on the Team menu option!!!!

Is it somewhere else? Do I have to do something to initialise it?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm just using what came with the installation of Servoy 6.0.4 that I recently installed - is there something more I would need to match the supplied documentation?

so you are using the default servoy team repository?
What does your team menu say?

But the default servoy team repository has no support for version tags.

Hi Johan the menu options are just: Synchronize, Update, Commit, Remove Share, Apply Patch...

And yes I just have the default servoy team repository, I just assumed that as the help referred to "creating a version of a project" that I could do exactly that without downloading anything else. What is it that I should be updating to then.....

Many thanks

the help that you looked into is the help of the CVS team tooling that is also inside of eclipse

You can use our Servoy Team provider if you want, then you just have the options you showed here.
If you want a more full version control system you can use SVN, you can browser our wiki for example here: http://wiki.servoy.com/display/public/D ... positories
else contact support if you want to have some help setting this all up
