Losing connection settings

Postby lalong » Tue Sep 27, 2011 4:18 pm

I am losing my database connection settings. I have both sqlexpress (port 1433) and postgres (2 instances, ports 5432 and 5433) installed. When I go into the sql explorer perspective to edit my connection setting, the setup information is gone and i have to re-input the info and as a result, can no longer access the data.

Any ideas?

Hi Larry,

Are you talking about losing connection settings in SQL Explorer or in Servoy ?
If Servoy how do you edit those settings ? Using Developer/Server or via a text editor ?

SQL Explorer. Argh! It just did it again. After resetting all the values for 10 or so connections, I did some testing on some forms, exited and when I got back in my custom db connections were all gone and the default anonymous ones where back!

I just noticed something else making me scratch my head...
When my settings get "undone" and I try to open the connection editor, nothing happens...the connection edit window does not come up. If I try to connect, using the default anonymous user, it connects. If I exit servoy and come back in, I can normally get the connection editor window to open. Then if I change the connections (bug_db for example) to use the DBA user, the connection works, but then any other anonymous connections (udm for example) no longer will connect, unless I change them to also use the DBA user...WTF???

Got it to occur consistently. To reproduce..
1- Start Servoy
2- Open the Connections SQL Explorer perspective
3- Edit the bug_db connection
Driver=PostgreSQL
URL=jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/bug_db (port may be different for you)
Auto Login=Y
User=DBA
4- Save
5- Right click and select connect to verify
6- Open Servoy Designer perspective
7- Restart Servoy
8- Open SQL Explorer perspective

When I do this, my changes are gone!

Don't edit servoy connections through the SQL Explorer!! We just create them for you from the real Servoy connections that you define in the solution explorer tree and then the Database node!!

The connections of SQL Explorer are just a copy and will be recreated at every restart.

Good to know. Thanks. I'll put a recommendation to put this in the docs and tutorials as a note.
