cross-DB portability?

Postby Neale » Fri Jul 25, 2003 9:35 am

We are having problems when trying to import a solution into servoy when the destination system is running MySQL but the origin system is running PostgreSQL.

The solution was created on the system running PostgreSQL, exported and when we attempt to import into the system running MySQL (having already created the DB Server definition) we get complaints of SQL syntax errors (the exact error varies depending on if we've pre-created teh tables and fields, but it's always a SQL syntax error).

What have we missed here?

What is the correct/recommended procedure regarding if table and field definitions should be created before a solution is imported?

How much table/field/relation detail does an exported solution include?

What this all boils down to is: if my customer is running MySQL, do I also need to run MySQL or should I be OK with PostgreSQL.

Thanks,
Neale.

Normally this should work, in fact I frequently move between different databases. It would be good to know what SQL errors you are getting. Is it possible to email your solution to: support@servoy.com? We can then have a close look at it.
