tunnelConnectionMode vs. Documentation

Postby Bernd.N » Mon Sep 05, 2016 7:12 pm

On the AppServer, the naming of the four tunnelConnectionModes in the ServoyNetworkSettings is as follows:
- http
- socket
- http&socket
- 2waysocket

In the documentation
https://wiki.servoy.com/display/public/DOCS/Network+Related+Settings#NetworkRelatedSettings-SmartClientSpecificConfiguration
the naming of the four modes is like this:
- Direct Connection
- TwoWay Socket
- HTTP Tunnel
- Socket Tunnel

Does the sequence of both lists match exactly the option on the other list?
I guess not, as 2waysocket is the last option on the first list, while TwoWay Socket is the second option in the documentation.

So what is the exact mapping between the Server listbox options and the documentation?
And which option will provide the fastest connection, provided the requirements can be fullfilled?

The longer I think about it, the more I tend to this mapping:
2waysocket === TwoWaySocket
http === HTTP Tunnel
socket === Socket Tunnel
That leaves the last combination
http&socket === Direct Connection

Can someone confirm this?

From our experience: We made a test yesterday and switched from http&socket to http. That resulted into a strong decrease of speed, so we quickly switched back today.

No http&socket is not direct connection.

it is really a combination off http and socket tunnel

creating a profile in servoy-admin page, there you can than choose/set what kind of connection you want
The default is socket tunnel

we are running for 2 years now in http tunnel mode.
We can't measure any difference in speed between http or http&socket mode

Hi Harjo,
that sounds like we have in reality five modes, while the mode "Direct Connection" that is mentioned in the documentation has no equivalent in the tunnelConnectionModes-listbox in the ServoyNetworkSettings ?
We did not use profiles so far, but tried to just run with one setting that we entered in the ServoyNetworkSettings page.
