Run servoy on Azure App Service

Postby swingman » Mon Jun 19, 2023 5:59 pm

Hi all,

A client wants to migrate from normal Tomcats to the Azure App Service.
I can see that this should be possible;

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure ... pp-service

Have anyone done this, and is there anything Servoy specific to watch out for?

Thanks,

Christian

I had something working ages ago. I remember some specific Azure issues, but it was possible with some trial and error.

However, in general I'd suggest to the client that they migrate to Docker. Azure has good docker support. Less vendor lock-in and you have much more control in docker.

So, running Tomcat -> Docker -> Azure is a better solution than running Tomcat -> Azure directly? Interesting.

Probably not. But probably not a worse solution, so you can do either or.

And if you consider that you can use the more general approach on more hosting platforms and you will (probably) find more infos on docker -> tomcat and docker -> azure you can go that route and have more options for other customers.

I have a specific client moving all their systems on to Azure, initially they moved all the in-house Windows servers to Azure-hosted servers. All systems of any kind, including Servoy. Servoy is working fine.
Now they want to move one step further and use Azure Services instead.
