thats weird, i know we just had to remove those browsersuite mac things from our side to get our clients started again.

i have no idea why the order is important that shouldn't do anything.

was this only on Macs with Java 7?
We work with Java 6 at the moment, because afaik the Browser Suite isn't working (on Macs) with Java 7.

And we have another strange issue on Java 7 when using Mac:

On many forms (often dialogs) you open the dialog and can't select text fields (comboboxes works). I found out, when you go to another application (Finder etc), do nothing and go back to the Servoy Smart Client you can click the text fields and edit them. On Windows i've no such problems.
It isn't 100% reproducible, so i couldn't create a sample solution yet, because i did not found the real reason for this behaviour.
I think it has to to with tab panels in dialogs, but i'm not sure.
Do you have ever heared from such issues?

yes, I have seen the same, with Servoy 6.0.9 and Java 7 on MAC

sometimes you can't put the cursor into fields, when you are in in a FID.
just give another program focus and return back, and it works again

So you have this with with Java 6?

ah, nice to hear that i'm not the only one with this strange behaviour ;)
Do you have or is there any solution for that issue?

No, we only had this with Java 7 and Servoy 5.2.15.
This is one reason to stay on Java 6.

Is there any chance to fix those strange issues?
Can Servoy fix here anything for Java 7?
For me it's difficult to say our customers to stay on Java 6.
In the last two months i've spent many hours to reactivate Java 6 on many customers Macs.

Thanks a lot!

Last week I discussed this with Johan, about this problem, because it's very hard to reproduce, Johan said in Servoy 6.1.x there where a bunch of changes/optimizes in this area. Not quite sure, if that will fix this problem, so we are going to test this, asap.

Thanks for your quick reply!
Do you know if these changes go to Servoy 5.2.x as well?
We are still on Servoy 5.2.x because of many module circles...

They were made in 6.1.x, so no, not in 5. (we aren't even sure if those changes will fix this...)

I understand. So can you inform us about the changes when they are tested? I hope they make things better and if so, they will be migrated to Servoy 5 too ;-)

But you say, you can't upgrade to 6, because of cycles between solutions & modules right?

that is only a problem (generating an error) in developer, (which I believe you can turn that warning off, if you want)
it should still work on a server.

Yes, the cycles between solutions & modules are the problem.
Thats good to know! Thanks for this information! I'll try it!

At least Oracle is notifying you nicely, instead of Apple, de-activiting stuff, in the background!

So you click the More Information link and you get the following information:
Install this free update for Java to get the following features:

• improves performance and stability
• enhances security

Which tells us exactly....nothing.
Oracle also still has a lot to learn. :(
