Licences

Postby Bert » Wed Jun 11, 2003 1:44 pm

Suppose I've got a licence for 20 cliM-knts/users.
At the workshop (Netherlands) I've heard that the twentyfirst cliM-knt/user can use the database for one hour and then has to restart the cliM-kntversion for using it another hour etc.
But what about the twentysecond and twentythird cliM-knt/user etc.?

Thanks...

Hi Bert,

It's the same for all users above 20. NOTE: The 20 is 20 CONCURRENT users. Users 21 - 250,000 will all have access according to the trial license - which is one hour.

Hope this helps,

Should be very simple, but what is a concurrent user?
Does it concern priveledges...?

Thanks...

concurrent = at the same time. So, if you have a 20 user license, ANY 20 people can use the solution for as long as they like. If someone else comes along and wants to use the solution, they can no problem, but its a trial license and they will have to restart the application after an hour. Subsequent users will be in the same situation.

Make sense now?

will the 21st users database transactions cause problems?

will the 21st users database transactions cause CONCURENCY problems and data integrity?

Or will the only limitation be the trial license causing you to shut down every hour?

It is the last. Your users above that assumed 20 will just not be able to work for longer than an hour...

Servoy allows you to "exceed" your license by 3 additional users - and those 3 additional users only have access for 1 hour before their connection will stop "talking" to the server.

This means - for the 1 hour period - you're getting 3 "free" concurrent users.

If you find that you're using these "extra" users on a regular basis (they will see a red "maximum users reached - switching to trial license" message in the message area in the lower left side of the scree) - then you should purchase more licenses.

4th is blocked, by message saying there are no licenses left, there is no 1 month limitation anywhere.
