Sporadic client crashing

Postby Morley » Fri Jun 10, 2005 5:51 pm

My beta tester clicks a button and sporadically the solution freezes up. Nothing for it but to force quit. 1 click in 100. Not related to any particular button or activity. Utterly unpredictable.

What tools/steps can I take to diagnose what's going on here? Recommendations?

Hi Morley

Useful if you provide info on Servoy version & OS.

May not be applicable but I had similar problem with a solution occ freezing - http://www.forum.servoy.com/viewtopic.php?p=22377#22377 - and Johan pointed me to problem/solution.

Quote:
The calc field is simply: 'return ct_forename + ' ' + ct_surname.toUpperCase();

but is there a ct_surname or not?
Because if ct_surname can be null then yes you need to check for it because you can't ask for a null thing to do uppercase() ...

Solution continues to run fine on Windows (even with my poor coding!) but occ freezes on OSX.

Re Tools its always worth checking .log.txt and sybase_log.txt and on OSX the Console output is pretty useful.

Will check my calcs. May well be the cause. And yes, the client is on Mac.
