Contents of client cache and local storage...

Postby coulombre » Sun Aug 14, 2005 1:45 am

Hi all,

During a concall on Friday a potential client had several questions regarding the contents of the Servoy client cache. Some of these questions are a result of some experiences with FileMaker (i.e. some earlier versions of FileMaker stored data and password info in temp files that could be opened and read by password crackers and text editors).

1. Does Servoy client store password info anywhere, at any time, on the client?

2. Does Servoy store data anywhere, at any time, on the client?

3. Specifically, what and where does Servoy store on the client, and what mechanisms are used to protect it?

4. If certain elements are stored locally, can that be prevented if required by the client.

Thanks in advance for the answer to these questions.

Best,

1)password never, username yes for suggestion next time
2)nope, no user data data ever by itself, the Servoy programmer/end-user however might export data localy (remove the file, excel, tab plugins from your server "plugins" directory to prevent data to be written locally on client)
3)some definition of the solution itself (Form definitions, to speedup solution loading)
