How does Servoy client cache search results ?

Postby grahamg » Fri Sep 23, 2005 3:15 pm

Testing a 3G datacard on some hosted solutions - claimed datacard speed is 384KBs but probably achieving about half that in current location.

Have a relatively simple Contact screen with Main Contact form and a Search List in an unrelated Tab Panel. Search list displays 13 records showing Company Name, Main Contact name and No: of Jobs.

Did a search that found 56 records in 5-6 secs - which is fine. But clicking to scroll down the list takes 10-11 secs and transfers @ 200kb of data each time.

My understanding is that Servoy 'returns' data on the first 200 records of the foundset - if this is so shouldn't scrolling be almost instant.

Trying to get a better understanding of whats happening so that I can fine-tune the solution for real 'road-warriors' who need to get at data while 'parked' on the M25 :)

Advice/info appreciated

Yes I have seen this too!

sometimes if you have a foundset of for example 400, and you start scrolling, Servoy client is communicating than with the server. Scrolling becomes a bit sluggish too!

Would be nice if someone could investigate this!
