LAN Clients not connecting

Postby rodneysieb » Wed Aug 29, 2007 8:45 am

Hi

Am installing my solution on a standard LAN with windows 2000 server. Have installed server as per usual and I can install the client on this machine, works first time.

When then installing the client on LAN workstations i get the error (see screenshot) re a java resource error, which i have never seen before.

Believing this to be a java error we uninstalled/re-installed java to a version we know works (1.5.06) on the client workstation. But getting the same message. Have turned off all antivirus and security software but still getting this error. We have also changed the ports around but no change.

Have also tried installing on a number of LAN workstations all with the same message.

Could there be a java program on the server blocking us? Please help

Not getting any messages on the java client console (not getting that far) or servoy admin tool log.

Servoy 2.27
MySQL 5.027 (repository and solution data)
Java 1.5.06

I use these same versions on all installations.

Rodney,
What version of Java is on the Server? Have you checked the server for firewalls etc, not just the workstations. If the error is on all workstations its a fair bet that the problem is server related.

Have your tried, clearing your java-cache?
your documents&settings\user\.servoy?
clearing your IE cache.

and finally you can try clearing the folder, on the Servoy server: Servoy/server/work/catalina/localhost (out of my head)
this will force, Servoy to re-pack, all the plugins.

Hope this helps

Hi

This issue was caused simply by having java version 1.6 on the server. Changed to 1.5, reinstalled and everything is working fine. :D

Have added to my installation checklist to always check the java version.

Thanks guys

Something that helped me with Java 1.6 having dowload problems on Vista was to set the Java network settings from "Browser" to "direct connection". All of a sudden all problems disappeared...
