Additional empty column to the right in NG Client

Forum to discuss the new web client version of Servoy.

Additional empty column to the right in NG Client

Postby huber » Mon Aug 19, 2019 3:43 pm

Any form (Table view) in NG Client is displayed with an ADDITIONAL, empty column to the right of the form which does NOT exist in the form editor, see attached image. Is this something to be corrected in the Style Sheet or is this a (known) bug, may be already fixed?

In Smart Client, everything is fine.

Servoy 8.3.3
Java 1.8.0_201

I found what's causing this extra, unwanted column at the far right. It is dependent on the scrollbar settings of the form. Setting vertical scrollbar to when needed creates the empty column, setting it to never shows no extra column. I will make a case.

but what is the problem about that "extra column" ?
it is not in the way
it as far as i can see doesn't generate an scrollbar.
And i think this is just a fill up that we need for certain reasons

The problem is it IS in the way and using needed space. Not a problem on big monitors, but on small Laptops and also on iPads/tablets.
Correct, It is not generating a scrollbar because none is needed, so the column should disappear.
I don't think it's for any reason, because as soon as I set the scrollbar to never the unwanted column disappears.

Hopefully you can fix that (behaviour as in Smart Client), it would be really very much appreciated.

Best regards,

that is done on purpose to fix things

https://support.servoy.com/browse/SVY-11612

so we can't remove it it is there for a reason, to not result in empty space or a scrollbar that you don't want.
So this is something we have to keep so it doesn't break other stuff again

In my view the support case you mention is one part of the solution and of course welcome, but why not complete it fully?

I would like to remind that Servoy propagates good-looking solutions. Sorry to say, but unfortunately, the unwanted empty column (see image) the user don't know whether it's an error or whether data is missing in this column is NOT in the category of good looking. Worse, in one selected menu, there can be up to three unwanted, always empty columns be displayed. At least for my design understanding, that's far away from good looking.
